 Meet the Team

Kaine Wood – Assistant Trainer

Kaine has been working in racing since leaving school in 2009.

He started his career as an Amateur Jockey and rode his first winner for Tony. Following this, he became a jump jockey for another yard in Norton ran by Brian Ellison. After gaining lots of experience working in several yards, the opportunity arose for him to return to Long Row Stables where he is now in the process of applying for his trainer’s license to work alongside Tony.

Nick Kench

Nick carries out all the essential maintenance at the yard alongside his full-time job at a local quarry.

He has had a passion for horses all his life. His family introduced him to horses from a young age as they had a keen interest in Point to Point. Nick helps from time to time with feeding the horses and is an integral part of the team at Long Row Stables.

Harriet McHugh – Work rider

Harriet has been riding out at Long Row Stables for many years.

She has ridden as an amateur in the past, managing to ride five winners and has worked in racing all her career. She now works full time for Racing Welfare in Malton as a Welfare Officer where she supports and helps many different people as part of her day to day duties. In addition to this, Harriet is studying Counselling alongside her role at York College.
